The redone Edmonds library looks great upon entering (“After Edmonds library flood, remodeled branch to reopen in January,” The Herald, Dec. 23) although one glaring shortcoming is the height of the book shelves; they are way too low!
Blocking these shelving units up 18 inches or so would reduce the need for many people to bend over or get on their knees to see the literary offerings on the lower shelves. Please block the bookshelves up higher to improve access to the books, and get most of them at waist level up to eye level, like the Lynnwood library has done.
Otherwise, the library looks good. Thank you for finishing the job and making the books more accessible.
