Our neighbor in Edmonds, 87-year-old Myrtle, a retired pharmacist, called to say she was not feeeling well, and was going to her daughter’s for awhile. She would be back home to take care of the church gift shop, one of her volunteer duties.
When her mail was not picked up, the mail carrier, Richard mMajer, was concerned and went door to door, trying to find out what happened. Fortunately for all, her son called us to say she was being cared for at their home.
Neighbors were impressed that anyone on a busy mail route would take the time to go knocking on doors, but postman Richard Majer said he keeps watch on elderly people living alone to be sure they were cared for. What a good deed for any friend!
