Tell me where I have this all wrong:
If Bush and all CEOs, and all big wigs across America were sincere in their desire to unite and truly help America, why not relinquish, say, half their salary (they probably could live very comfortably on just the perks and benefits)? This would be the same for all elected officials from city to national level – just turn down the last raise they received.
Also, all union officials ask the rank and file to take a small cut in pay of one or two dollars – this would keep all workers in place with the ability to meet the mortgage, car, utilities, etc. payments.
Also, why bail out Enron with billions? Oh, it’s a Texas-based company that might have contributed heavily to Bush’s campaign.
As far as bailing out the airlines – no money until the upper echelon takes a reduction in salary.
I challenge Bush, the Legislature, Condit and all elected officials (even Drewel) to institute this suggestion as soon as possible. This would certainly be perceived as “genuine” by the entire country. Novel idea? No, I don’t think so – common sense? Maybe.
What do you say, Bush? You want to be a leader – then do it!
