Regarding the Tuesday editorial, “Elect the president by the popular vote”: You know as well as I do that 49 states gave Trump a win by more than a million votes, yet one state gave Hillary three million votes. And we both know what a disaster that state has become, thanks to people like Hillary and the party she represents. In short, the Electoral College did exactly what it was designed to do, which is assure the smaller states get some representation in the presidential election. Of course, by your logic, we do not need the U.S. Senate at all.
Luckily for us all, your shortsighted view will never happen, since it takes three-quarters of the states to vote to make it happen, and if you think the “little” states are going to approve this, you are smoking some pretty strong stuff.
