If elephants could speak they would tell you how they resent the Sunday article by Jackson Holtz. (“Elephants: Beloved and controversial stars of the circus.”) The circus life is not at all enjoyable for these beautiful animals. This type of exploitation is really a disgrace and I am surprised that The Herald chose to somewhat glorify the elephants’ life of misery and boredom. It is time to evolve; it is so arrogant to use animals for circus entertainment. The Cirque du Soleil has greatly succeeded in having a great show sans animals and it works!
I intend to be among the protesters in Everett.
Ringling Bros. Circus used to come to Key Arena in Seattle but no more. We protested and educated the public wisely; attendance was way down and it was no longer profitable for them.
Again, the elephants would tell you how they hate circus life and how they welcome the protesters to teach the children well, hoping to stop this perpetual hellish life. And please, stop printing biased articles praising circus life for elephants.
