A recent letter to the editor takes an extreme position regarding the abortion issue. Although I would take the opposite position of the right of the fetus, there is a concept here that I believe is being left out.
Since there are two strongly opposing sides on this issue, some saying life begins at conception and others saying it begins at birth, should we not err on the safe side since we are dealing with the life of a potential human being at the least. There also is an incongruency here in that, if a pregnant woman is murdered, the murderer is charged with two murders, not one; the one being the unborn child. If that is not a life, then they should be charged only with one.
