Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Today’s A&E section offers a listing of this summer’s fairs and festivals (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/04/27/100ae_ae14fairs001.cfm). But The Buzz noticed that a few state festivals were left out:
Sequim Irrigation Festival, May 5 in Sequim, offers an Elvis Contest. Although we’re not getting the connection between The King and center-pivot irrigation technology.
The National Lentil Festival, Aug. 17 and18 in Pullman, where you can enjoy lentil chili and lentil pancakes, and we assume, watch the coronation of the Lentil Queen and her Court of Legume Princesses.
McCleary Bear Festival, July 13-15 in McCleary, offering a lunch of bear stew, beans, a roll and watermelon for $2, or $10 for the same meal without the stew.
Moxee Hop Festival, Aug. 3 and 4 in Moxee, has to do with the hops grown for beer and not with jumping. Are you surprised that the festival will have not just a beer garden, but a deluxe beer garden?
A brief history in zero-G. Mathematician and black hole expert Stephen Hawking left his wheelchair behind as he took a zero-gravity plane flight Thursday from Cape Canaveral, Fla. (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/04/27/100wir_a2hawking001.cfm).
We actually have no snarky comment to make here. The Buzz just thinks this is a cool story.

Speaking of stories we thought were cool, our favorite of the day might be the one about the British man who collected $50,000 after winning a bet that he’d live to be 100 (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/04/27/100wir_a6bet001.cfm). One of the secrets to his longevity? “I keep breathing,” he says.
If only we’d known that before we tried to see how long we could hold our breath.
