Yes, I was so moved by the Everett High School’s production of “Footloose” that I came right home to write this! If you want to have your spirits uplifted do attend. My husband and I saw this musical several years ago performed by professionals on Vancouver Island; however, tonight’s was even more enjoyable. The students’ performance was superb; so much energetic dancing, great solo and group singing, talented band, elaborate sets that were smoothly moved about. The students and staff gave us their hearts and souls.
We must never lose sight of the critical part the arts play in our schools. This is the kind of activity that pulls people together and helps students gain a sense of belonging. Lots of integrated learning is involved, whether or not it gets measured. Best wishes to Everett High in the competition for the Fifth Avenue Theater Awards.
Don’t miss the show! (Everett High’s production of “Footloose” continues at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Civic Auditorium.)
