It’s sad to see historic buildings being swept away for something as temporary as a Kingdome. Masonic lodges were a sign of civilization across the West. Writer R.A. Bartlett in “The New Country” says that the lodges were among the most solid buildings in frontier communities and membership included the prominent leaders of the time. He says that many decisions regarding town policies came out of gatherings of Masons.
