The purpose of mass transit is to get people out of cars and get them into buses. Everett Transit wants to get people out of buses and into cars. It is planning to cut service and double fares. It wants to end service in south Everett and let Community Transit run the routes. Community Transit is more expensive and does not get you where you need to go in Everett.
Everett Transit has been mismanaged for years. It makes more changes to its schedule than any other transit agency. Everett Transit has a phobia about Community Transit. Every time Community Transit tries to get close to Everett Transit, it backs away. Under the new plan It will have limited connection points to Community Transit, only one in south Everett. When the new Everett Station was built, Community Transit moved right in. Everett Transit refused to use it. It took three years before Everett Transit was pressured to use the facility.
Everett Transit should be trying to increase service and ridership. It needs more routes and better service, not less. It needs to remain affordable.
