On July 4, my family and I viewed the Everett fireworks display from Grand Avenue Park. We had looked forward all week to the celebration but left very disappointed at the meager display that lasted only ten minutes. Others we spoke with echoed our sentiment.
In a time where national pride is so highly valued and eagerly expressed, and in a year where we were selected as an All-America city, this substandard display was both disappointing and inappropriate.
Here’s hoping Everett will provide its residents with a more worthy fireworks display – an All-America display – in 2003.
