Watch out! The city council and mayor of Everett are asking us to vote for Proposition 1.
They are saying that the money raised, from Proposition 1, will go to the public libraries to fund programs and activities for our kids, but why should our kids enjoy these activities when they can sit at home and watch TV?
They are saying that the money will be put toward our pool and parks. But who wants to play at the pool or relax in the shade in Everett? After all, we can pile into our cars, get onto I-5, and drive to Mill Creek or Bothell to take advantage of their great parks.
Yes! Let’s continue to drive for leisure outside Everett because paying for gas is better than investing 28 dollars, a month (average), in our community.
Let’s drive to other communities to make sure they have local jobs over there because 28 dollars is too much for this town.
Why fund a properly trained police department to keep us safe if we already have a reliable automated system that will send you a text message stating that the Everett Police Department is too busy to attend your call?
Let’s keep things the way they are so the highly paid Boeing employees move elsewhere, where they will have parks and services that are too much for Everett to afford. Let their salaries go to those communities while we keep the traffic and pollution.
All jokes aside, the goal of Everett’s Proposition 1 is to build a better Everett! For just $28 dollars, a month, you can help support and fund a better future for our kids and a safer city for our retirement.
