A big thank you to the people of Evergreen Cemetery and the Memorial Committee members for providing a very moving program this Memorial Day. We were honored to hear the guest speaker Michael Reagan, the Vietnam Veteran and recent recipient of the Citizen Honor Award by the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation for his outstanding mission to honor American Fallen Heroes. Mr. Reagan’s focus on providing 4,000 beautiful portraits for the families of the fallen throughout the United States gives a new meaning to word “volunteerism.” I’ve attended many Memorial Day services, and am always moved to tears hearing the stories shared by veterans who have cradled a soldier as they lie dying. As this was the 50th anniversary commemorating the Vietnam War, it was nice to hear the names read of Everett soldiers who died in Vietnam. However, one name was missed: Our neighbor Stanley L. Grunstad, who died in Vietnam in 1968. www.vvmf.org/Wall-of-Faces/20294/STANLEY-L-GRUNSTAD
