I was disappointed in Ta’Leah Van Sistine’s report regarding EVs in the backcountry (“Can EVs go the distance in the backcountry? Some not so sure,” The Herald, Aug. 22).
I own a 2023 Rivian R1S and just finished a 6,374-mile road trip that included going to very remote places in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Like with a gasoline vehicle, you just have to make sure you have the fuel (or charge) required for your planned drive. I’ve also driven from Bothell to remote trailheads all along Mountain Loop Highway without a thought. My EV replaced a 2018 Toyota Tacoma and I have zero regrets. I’m sure my Rivian can go the distance!
