Summer has arrived! How do I know this? Not because the sun is shining, but rather because the accidents have begun — young people drowning, children falling out of windows and barbecue fires. What has happened to common sense? It has now become necessary to pass a law requiring life jackets? Shouldn’t that be what they call a no-brainer?
I have raised children from my teenaged years, and they never got hurt from these kinds of accidents. At 16, I believe I had more common sense than many adults these days. The recent death of a toddler who stepped into a raging river? How do these things happen? Where are the eyes in the back of the head that parents used to have? My rule was, if you can’t see them, they are at risk! Now, is that so hard?
Let us try and make this a safe and happy summer for all children/adults. Just use a little common sense.
