Some drivers seem to be having a problem driving through Everett northbound on I-5 after the completion of the freeway expansion project. The answer is very simple. Years ago when I taught my kids how to drive, the first thing I relayed to them was to read and obey all signs. They are there for a reason. Going north on I-5 there is a sign that designates the right-hand lane as the Marine View Drive “EXIT ONLY 1 Mile.” This sign is repeated several times in the course of the next mile.
At that same spot in the left-hand lane, there is a sign that states “HOV lane ends.” You now have at least three-quarters of a mile to safely move over into one of the three lanes that leave Everett, not two as some seem to think. There are enough signs along this stretch that no one should have a problem. This project has improved traffic through Everett, both north and south, dramatically. Thank you, DOT.
