Extra I-5 lane wasn’t worth the expense

All that time, money, effort and disruption to add only one lane (“Everett to Marysville HOV lane opens to mixed reviews,” The Herald, Aug. 22)? If you have five traffic lanes northbound through Everett, especially with a major onramp just before Marine View Drive, why would you not continue those five lanes all the way to at least the Marysville exit? Or better yet, the Tulalip exit, with traffic flow improvements to that off ramp as well.

Make that offramp two lanes. That would eliminate the backup onto I-5 at rush hour. A major portion of the traffic volume gets off at those two exits. Yet another example of taxpayer dollars poorly spent by the Inslee administration.
