As a Monroe resident, I am concerned about the negative press that is being printed about a much-needed community facility that will benefit everyone in our town and nearby: the YMCA/Centennial Community Center.
There are so many advantages to all citizens of the Sky Valley and Twin Rivers area. An indoor swimming pool, exercise, programs for seniors, children and families are just some of the advantages of this center. It will have a central location next to the movie theater. The center will be operated by a caring organization, which is currently taking an active role by providing much-needed programs in Monroe and has for years, the YMCA. And the cost is reasonable for the effort and need of our growing community.
This Centennial Community Center is a meaningful way to celebrate Monroe’s 100th birthday by offering the citizens a facility we all can use and enjoy. Just imagine experiencing the benefits of better health, a place for citizens to meet, programs that provide care, fun and learning – all from a center which celebrates our town’s heritage.
Personally, I can’t think of a better way to bond our community and do something positive for everyone in Monroe and nearby. Please commit with a yes vote on the bond to build a Centennial Community Center Nov. 6. It is our opportunity to make a difference and a contribution to Monroe’s future.
