Regarding the Oct. 22 front page article titled “Lake Stevens woman buries victim of sniper”: I guess it can be said of The Herald, too – anything for a news story. Move over, National Enquirer.
There must have been another way that the depth of sorrow this local family is feeling right now could have been depicted – other than to show them in the midst of their grief as they bury a loved one. Susie Kundrat is a close friend of mine and was loved by so many who worked with her here at Snohomish County. The last thing she and her family wanted was to be the focus of national attention by the news media – especially under the present circumstances. The Herald owes Susie, and her family, an enormous apology for any hurt you may have caused by putting them even closer to an unwelcome spotlight.
It is obvious, to those of us who know and love Susie and who have lost loved ones of our own, that those in a position of deciding the content of your publication must never have experienced personal loss. If you had, you would be able to sympathize with the Kundrat family, instead of exploiting them for the sake of a story. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in The Herald.
