So Rick Neuheisel feels “fully vindicated.” Not so fast, Slick Rick. I dare him to step back into one other court for judgment. I remember the support and enthusiastic welcome he received in Hec Ed the night he appeared and raised the golden helmet. I dare him to return to the “W” at center court in Bank of America Arena at Hec Ed before some 10,000 Dawg fans and see just how vindicated he feels then.
You see, the Dawg Pack would be comparing Neuheisel’s “I lied about lying, but I’m not lying now” character against another UW Coach. That would be Pac-10 Coach of the Year Lorenzo Romar, known for not only winning, but also for playing a major role in the maturation of his players into a nationally respected, honored unit. Oh yes, ex-coach Neuheisel will be taking some of the UW’s cash with him. But does that signify vindication? It’s part of life in every neighborhood to have to pay to have the trash removed. But the place sure does smell a whole lot better once it’s gone.
