When will the insanity end? Voters just keep voting for what the politicians want, with virtually no regard as to what it will cost. Three projects that will cost big time are school funding, which is a necessary priority, the Bertha project and ST3. Taxes are skyrocketing with no end in sight.
I can visualize people being taxed out of their homes. Politicians love to dig into their constituents’ pockets as deep as they can, and the are very efficient at doing just that.
The Legislature is given 105 days to resolve issues facing them. They argue and argue and resolve little, if anything. A partial state government shutdown was averted but it required three special sessions. My take on this is if a second and subsequent sessions are called, instead of being paid per diem, each member of the Legislature, including the governor, reimburse the state treasury five times their per diem stipend. The same thing for members of Congress, because they too argue, filibuster and resolve little.
In addition, suspend all the medical and dental perks, etc. That may get some positive action, and the public would love to see it on both state and national levels.
Politicians love to leave a legacy when they leave office. That’s one big reason taxes steadily go up. When it comes to projects that voters are faced with, let those who vote for them, pay for them. Exempt those who vote against them.
