Boeing has started to be the Obamacare arm of the aerospace industry. If you use tobacco products it will cost you $50 a month extra for health care. And if your significant other also uses tobacco products, it’s another $50. Now I understand its “insurance,” but $600 a year additionally for one person? It’s extreme in the least! That’s just like the government forcing you to buy something, you have no choice.
I also understand it’s only for my own benefit, I can quit. But it’s also discriminatory, maybe even predatory. There are other segments of society that affect health and health care costs. Drug abuse, alcohol abuse and obesity, but only smokers will be targeted. And to add another slap in the face, it’s only non-represented people, the unions are exempt. So, even though Boeing will have the employer mandate slide, the individual mandate will not be and a section of the population (which was one that Obamacare was to protect) will now foot the bill.
