In response to Rod Eggerling’s letter to the editor of July 24, I would like to clarify several points. Mr. Eggerling endorsed my campaign for state senator, 39th Legislative District, and was on our sign team. His name was included in the endorsements section on the first batch of the printed postcard we used for doorbelling and events, as well as on the endorsements page of the campaign website at Elizabeth4State.com.
When Mr. Eggerling notified me that he had switched camps, I promptly removed his name from the website, and naturally we did not include his name on any further orders of printed materials. The postcards that had already been printed were not used as a mailer. We ordered new postcards for our mass mail piece, with an updated endorsements list including many new names and minus Mr. Eggerling’s.
In addition, I have double-checked with my core campaign team, and none of us were contacted about Mr. Eggerling’s complaint until last Saturday when a group email string about it was forwarded to me by a supporter. The timing, with the email string apparently beginning last Friday, the day after ballots were mailed, says a lot.
