Veterans of Foreign Wars “Old Guard” Post No. 2100 is celebrating the organization’s 125th Anniversary by hosting a VFW 125th Anniversary Ceremony at 1 p.m. Sept. 29.

The event will take place at Post 2100 at 2711 Oakes Ave., Everett.

Everyone is invited to join this historic and important event.

The VFW, America’s largest organization of combat veterans, kicked off a year-long 125th Anniversary Celebration beginning this past June and extending into 2025.

Founded on Sept. 29, 1899, the VFW was conceived by a small group of veterans returning from the military campaigns in Cuba and in the Philippines in 1898 and 1899. Those 13 veterans banded together to form a veteran’s service organization that would become the VFW. It would play an instrumental part in virtually every major legislative victory for veterans in the 20th and 21st centuries.

The VFW is a very interictal part of our community’s nationally and worldwide. The work done by the VFW in the areas of community involvement, youth programs, and the recognition of our first responders and our educators is at the very heart of the VFW’s mission. The legislation that the VFW has been involved in for the betterment of our veterans is the foremost project in effectively serving our veterans. By establishing the VA and passing the Pact Act are only two of the many veteran reforms the VFW achieved. The community in which we serve is also a very valuable asset to the VFW.

Come to our 125th Anniversary Ceremony at 1 p.m.Sunday, Sept. 29 startin, and see who we are and what we do for all veterans in the Everett community and beyond.

This event is one of hundreds to take place across the U.S. and around the world in honor of organization’s landmark anniversary, and its storied history of service and advocacy to veterans, service members and their families and the communities the VFW serves.
