I have lived in Monroe for many years and I have seen a lot of changes, some good, some not so good. One change I look forward to is a change in City Council members.
Councilman Ken Berger’s political brochure claims he has fixed our traffic problems. Does he even drive in Monroe? He’s had 15 years to do something about the dangerous conditions, but so far he has been completely ineffective. With hundreds of new homes being built, there are still no sidewalks on some of the heaviest traveled roads in Monroe. Public safety should be a council member’s first priority! Berger is so focused on bringing in new development that he has lost interest in completing existing projects.
Frankly, I am tired of Monroe being the subject of ridicule because of Ken Berger’s disregard of state law, including the Open Public Meetings Act. He has been in trouble with the state auditor more than once for this, but he has never owned up to his mistakes. That is not leadership.
Please make a positive change and elect Todd Fredrickson. We definitely need someone on the council who will study the issues, listen to the citizens and then do the right thing.
