Shortly on my cul-de-sac, four homes out of 13 will have gone into foreclosure. Wonderful families and friends lost in the greed of banks and mortgage companies refusing to refinance.
Now, I read in Saturday Herald of the PUD taking $2.17 million in stimulus money to put a CFL bulb on the stoop of each house in Everett. I am enraged by this! Apparently, I was wrong to assume the stimulus funds from both the Bush and Obama administrations were going to somehow help my friends keep their homes. How naive I was, but, I know I’m not the only one who believed help was on the way.
Lining the pockets of business on the financial backs of our children and grandchildren makes me sick, and I am disgusted with the PUD for spending that money on light bulbs.
