While watching the news on Sept. 4, I noted the “cool” reception that Colin Powell got at the summit dealing with poverty in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I think it is time that the United States demonstrates just what it is we are doing in the world by withdrawing all aid to all foreign countries, including those in Europe and Asia. That would include all private aid, such as the Red Cross.
In addition to that, we should demand payment of all monies loaned to all countries during World War I and World War II that was used to help fight the war and to rebuild. These monies were never repaid. Talk about a way to fund Social Security – here it is.
We should demand that all monies loaned to and through the World Bank be repaid, for whatever reason they were loaned, or forgiven.
Certainly, if this were done, it would wake up the world to just how philanthropic the United States really is and, if any of the monies were repaid, we would be rolling in the dough, especially if interest were applied.
