It is almost time for the Snohomish County Council to make a decision on the KRKO towers. We hope they will look beyond partisanship and vote no. The council should vote no because the future of the Snohomish River valley hang in the balance. No … because they will be preserving a heritage of beautiful open space for future generations. No … because we have no need of a 425-foot and four 200-foot towers to provide AM radio to Snohomish County. KIRO 710 is just fine.
We believe no one in the area wants these towers – just Mr. Skotdal and his company. We sincerely hope that the county commissioners will accept the decisions of the hearing examiners and deny the conditional use permit on the grounds of aesthetics alone. We are very sympathetic to the people of Granite Falls who fought the gravel pit. They will have to endure those trucks rumbling through their town for many years.
As for the Snohomish Valley, if KRKO gets to put these towers in, they will be there forever.
