It is unfortunate to know that favortism, elitism and powerful friends still spare the guilty. Regarding Snohomish County Judge Timothy Ryan’s DUI stop and no charges filed: I wish I had his friends and position when I was stopped at the age of 21; I had my license suspended for two years, found guilty of DUI, subject to probation, a probation officer, fines, treatment, etc., and was required to complete the above before being allowed to drive again.
I, too, refused a breathalyzer and had several “friends” testimony to support my claim of not being intoxicated. Unfortunately, none of my friends was a judge and my claims fell on deaf ears, as well as my administrative hearing to keep my license. At the very least he should be required to ride the bus and count on friends and relatives to get him to work and back to “learn his lesson!” as I was so sternly told by a judge “who is a friend of his,” but alas has never been my dinner companion.
