I was happy to see Marshall and Katherine Cymbaluk recognized in The Herald for their family’s generous $5 million donation to support our local hospital (“‘Everyday people’ transform care at Providence hosptial — again,” The Herald, Sept. 20). Not only is their gift transforming health care in our region, but also the hearts of our caregivers who see the community investing in their work; especially during these trying times.
In May, I was honored to be appointed as chief executive officer of Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. I am so proud of the deeply committed caregivers who live our mission every day, and the incredible support that our community bestows on our medical center. It’s this dedication and continual pursuit of excellence that has built Providence Everett into what it is today and will carry us into a promising future.
The Cymbaluk support — the second $5 million gift in the past decade — was given as part of Providence General Foundation’s fundraising initiative, The Campaign for a Greater Providence. Although the Cymbaluks’ was the largest gift, to date, I also want to recognize the remarkable support received throughout this campaign, so far. Hundreds of gifts — some large, others more modest — have added up to $27 million dollars from individuals, families, businesses, and organizations. This widespread philanthropy allows our medical center to upgrade facilities, advance critical programs and equip our dedicated and talented caregivers to do their best work.
These investments will save lives. In fact, they already have.
