On behalf of the community of Snohomish, I want to thank the Board of Directors of the Snohomish Saturday Market for their generous gift of $22,000 for architecturally integrated art in our new library. The board designated their donation for the entry/gallery floor and the fireplace, mantel, and hearth. Groundbreaking for the new library on Maple Avenue between 3rd and 4th streets is set for later this spring.
Our goal is to raise $40,000 for unique, site specific, public art. We’ve nearly reached 75 percent of this goal and continue to seek donations. These donations have ranged from $5 up. The Carnegie Library, built in 1910, was a legacy to future residents. Now it’s our turn to leave a legacy to the future. To quote Winston Churchill “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
