I would like to respond to the Feb. 5 letter written by Arnie Knudson titled “Sex Discrimination: Why aren’t wrongs to men addressed?”
On the question of the draft: Typically women are having and nurturing babies at draft age. For female dominant jobs: How many men can say that they want jobs that are low paying, with few benefits, and even less advancement?
As far as services and support for domestic violence, child support and genital mutilation: These changes were long in coming. It took many people, time, work and unity for a common cause to change the laws. The squeaky wheel eventually gets attention.
When I was in college we had a women’s center. Men started complaining that they didn’t have a men’s center. One instructor decided to have a meeting to discuss the situation. Only two men showed up. That was the end of it: Not enough interest.
I think that Mr. Knudson has some worth while issues that need to be addressed. Nothing changes unless people get involved and change them. You can make a difference.
