The residents of Snohomish County Fire District 22 in Getchell should be aware that for the second year this district will be operating without an EMS levy. The district has tried for two years to pass an EMS levy, to no avail. Both years we have missed approval of the levy by less than 15 votes.
This is very discouraging to us. We feel that if the voters were aware of the fact that our previous EMS levy failed – instead of reading The Herald’s preliminary election results and assuming they were correct in reporting that we had obtained the percentage of approval we needed to pass – this wouldn’t have occurred. We have had numerous people ask us why we needed to run another levy. Didn’t we just pass one?
We feel strongly that The Herald needs to report prominently any election results that have changed from the preliminary results again after they have been certified, making sure that people get the facts instead of just the major race results. Would our levy have passed, then? We feel it would have. Emergency Medical Services are important to everyone – please check the facts before voting.
