Citizens of Snohomish County:
The next time you are sitting in traffic, or wondering why a developer is building a rural cluster subdivision next to your rural acreage, or a high density development is built on 3,000-square-foot lots; you can blame yourself for not participating in the system.
Let your voices be heard. E-mail those councilmen! This written testimony is more heavily weighted than the oral testimony given at the hearings. Interesting! But an advantage to the citizen who is stuck in traffic and can’t get to the meetings. Do you know who attends the important hearings and meetings? The land developers, real estate agents and their representatives.
The County Council’s remedy to traffic congestion on 164th Street from I-5 to Highway 527 was to add more buses to the backup and raise building permit fees a few dollars. Is this the way we are going to solve all our traffic problems in the future as uncontrolled land development spreads across our fair county? Let’s hope our new council will have the courage to look at options for a much needed new east/west corridor.
