I had to respond to the Monday letter, “Pushing religion is unconstitutional,” concerning the National Day of Prayer.
Where, oh, where in the U.S. Constitution does it “explicitly forbid” the government from allowing a National Day of Prayer? Please read the First Amendment and you will see there is no such thing as “separation of church and state.” It specifically prohibits Congress from establishing a religion. It allows anyone to worship or not worship freely without government interference.
Also, atheists do have their day. It is the first day of April every year.
