Have you noticed the proposed land use (rezoning) signs in Eastmont? How about the activity on the undeveloped lots? There are large developments going in off of 100th and 27th and 31st streets. Take a drive around and see what has been happening. Properties in Eastmont are currently zoned R-9600, which means urban low density, or four to six dwelling units per acre. To be rezoned to R-7200 would mean a developer could put more than six dwelling units per acre on the property that was rezoned.
Requirements are that if you live within 500 feet of a proposed development you should have received notice of the proposed land use with a 15-day time frame in which to send your comments to Snohomish County Planning and Development Services. Residents (even those who did not receive a notice) with issues regarding the 92nd Place SE proposed land use are urged to submit written comments to Snohomish County Planning and Development Services, 5th Floor, County Administration Building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., M/S 604, Everett, WA 98201, well before December 22, 2002.
All this development is happening as a result of the Growth Management Act and the fact that Eastmont is in an urban growth area. I would like to suggest that in an already established neighborhood or street, the zoning remain the same and the houses be constructed to conform to what is already there, in this case one-level ramblers on large lots. And we thought not annexing to the City of Everett would stop the sewers and the developments from coming in.
