I beg to differ with letter writer Schuyler Thorpe’s remarks about gay marriages (“It should be decided by couple, not others,” Nov. 24). He asks what is it with everyone these days? Everyone is too wide a scope, but the majority, especially Christians, have good reason to object to the unorthodox “marriage” of gay people.
We are all created by God. He is the one who created the first couple: Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve as someone once said. He is the one who instituted marriage. The Bible, from its very beginning, gives records of man taking a wife, over and over again. Nowhere does it mention any other kind of union.
Proverbs says, “He that findeth a wife findeth a good thing.” It also says, “A prudent wife is from the Lord.” Wonderful things are said of the marriage relationship but sodomy is damned. Yes, our society has change but to the detriment of our morals. America could be blessed by God, once again, if only we would return to his laws which were created for our benefit. He is the one to whom we will have to give an account when at our death we face his judgment throne.
