Once again I would like to thank Mike and Patty Kossak of the Marysville Golden Corral for throwing a magnificent “Military Appreciation Monday” dinner party for all veterans. The Kossaks hosted the 6th annual steak dinner as a free thank you to all who have served in the military to protect freedom for this country.
My husband (37 years service) and myself (30 years) always enjoy seeing Mike in his American Flag tie, armed with a smile and full of patience, as he personally seats each veteran. He and Patty have the service down to a science to get hundreds of hungry vets through the line with steak and all accompaniments that never run out. That is quite a feat for a four-hour dinner party!
The Golden Corral hosts these appreciation dinners at all of their 481 restaurants nationwide, and partners with the Disabled American Veterans. They have served more than 1.3 million free meals (at a cost of more than $2 million) and raised more than $1.4 million for the DAV. The DAV is an 86-year-old non-profit organization that provides free services to disabled veterans and their families.
It is wonderful to see the very young active duty and the very old retired all sharing camraderie and mutual respect. It’s good for the community to visit with each other and to see all vets have this special bond in common.
Thank you, Mike and Patty!
