Pardon my cynicism, but I find it more than coincidental that a news story about the 1998 discovery of some Iraqi Drones of Death should be given to the Washington Post for distribution to all of its related local papers (like The Herald). Publishing it in the midst of a great sales (and con) job the Bush Administration is waging in hopes of persuading the U.S. public that we should go to war against Iraq, no matter what – even if it means doing it unilaterally.
The big question is: If these were discovered in 1998, why weren’t they destroyed then, with documentation furnished to the U.N. about that discovery and the possible implications they posed with regard to world peace and the stability of the Middle East?
Whether the story is true or not, the Bush Administration continues to come up with good reasons to question its credibility.
