As I read Wednesday’s paper, I noticed two separate stories describing police response to tension-filled situations involving individuals with mental illness. Both situations had the potential to result in a fatal outcome for one or more individuals. Both did not, and indications are that the Everett Police Department handled these stress-filled, emotionally charged situations with professionalism and compassion. This letter is to acknowledge the officers involved.
