We have the best school district in the State of Washington. The Northshore School District is the envy of other districts because of our community’s commitment to support and maintain the highest quality education for our children. We also boast of having the highest rate of achievement and student performance in the state.
The two levy proposals, Proposition 1 and Proposition 2 (maintenance and operations and technology) are pure replacement measures that will continue support for these areas that will expire in 2002. Our students deserve the best we can provide for them by ensuring they have student services, good support staff and transportation and quality facilities. Northshore’s technology plan is superb and we need to ensure our students and teachers are staying abreast of this advancing frontier.
Proposition 3 is a 20-year bond to modernize existing classrooms, expand existing facilities, improve sports fields, renovate older schools and comply with new building codes to accommodate the Americans with Disabilities Act. Regular investments in capital projects are a prudent use of our money, and ensures the future of the district.
Quality facilities and quality teachers yield quality education for our children at Northshore. Please join me in supporting these measures by voting yes on Feb. 5.
