The Senate has no obligation to vote on Obama’s nomination, no matter who it is. The Senate and the President are equal, remember? Furthermore, the Democrats would do exactly the same thing as the Republicans are doing right now, if the roles were reversed, and guess what … they have done it. The Supreme Court has worked a member short in the past, and there was no problem, they can get along just fine for eight months with eight members. And Obama no longer reflects the vote of the people. Since he was elected in 2008 with majorities in both the House and the Senate, voters have taken majorities in both those bodies away from him, and Republicans now control both the House and the Senate. This is a clear rejection of Obama’s policies, including anyone he nominates for the Supreme Court. The Republicans are doing the right thing here.
