GOP shamefully caves on abortion

It is very disappointing to see House Speaker John Boehner, along with the Republican leadership at the national level, once again forsake principle when it comes to the No. 1 social issue of our time.

Though a miniscule portion of the total requested federal budget cuts were involved, the idea of defunding Planned Parenthood was and is an issue very important to those of us on the pro-life side of the abortion debate. The very idea of taxpayer-funded abortion or worse, labeling abortion as “women’s health-care,” when in fact it amounts to little more than the killing of an innocent human life, is repugnant.

Leaders, whether in business or politics, should be judged by the fruits of their successes or failures. When it comes to mainstream Republican leadership at the federal level on the issue of protecting unborn life, I think the results are pathetically clear.

If nothing else I tip my hat to the Democrats; when it comes to their signature issues of promoting abortion and homosexual marriage, they remain loyal to their voters and, more importantly, year after year they get results.

The only things leaders of my party seem to accomplish are tax cuts for the wealthy and entering foreign wars.
