The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is not perfect. It certainly has its flaws. Our government spent huge sums to implement this massive plan and it makes sense to fix the plan vs. repealing and replacing the act.
The American Health Care Act (AHCA) is a disaster. It will destabilize the social fabric for the people at the bottom. More than 10 million could fall off the insurance rolls as the plan is written now. An analysis of the GOP proposal showed that older Americans and people who make less money or people who live in places with high cost premiums would get less coverage or no coverage.
The AHCA disadvantages the mentally ill and puts the responsibility onto the states. The plan kills Medicaid expansion, the most successful and popular way to expand coverage. There is no mercy in this plan.
The AHCA hopes to help Americans pay for their insurance with tax credits. The tax breaks will make it harder for older Americans to afford coverage. The tax breaks are for the top 1 percent of Americans.
The ACA is in place right now and working for many Americans. Fix the plan or maybe we could vote for the same coverage that our congressmen have.
