Recently, KIRO had another story about the many questionable T-Mobile business practices. The report stated our attorney general’s office was “not going to file a class action lawsuit” at this time. Why not?
Is Congress doing anything to make the laws governing the corporate greed mongers to make mobile service fair to consumers? The Consumer’s Union has been lobbying for years against the poor service, excessively long contracts, phones not crossing over between companies and charges for services consumers cannot opt out of.
I’ve been hit with text message charges for things such as Dairy Queen ads and Joke of the Day spam on my phone! I’ve been slammed with charges for bundled ring tones I did not order. T-Mobile claims these are “third party charges,” yet can’t provide proof of who purchased these tones, or how it could be “ordered from (my) phone” when my mobile never leaves my jean pocket from the time I get up until bedtime unless I make or answer a call. I don’t surf the Net on a mobile phone. For that matter, I don’t want a phone with all the bells and whistles, but I am forced to buy all the trimmings because that is all they offer.
Consumers Joe Calloway and Chris Courtright of Seattle filed their own lawsuit against T-Mobile. I am happy someone has the means to do so. Most consumers either do not have the money or the knowledge to try.
Why must this type of corporate thievery continue to plague citizens of Washington state? What will it take to get our public servants to do the job they have been voted in or hired to do? Looks like we need to get rid of the old and vote in the new. Time for change? I’d say so!
