Our current administration and Congress seem to feel a great urgency to revamp the U.S. health care system. Apparently, it’s a raging disaster that requires immediate, radical change.
But no fears … no worries … we’re promised the end result will both save money and expand coverage for all.
Sounds great.
So, Mr. President, Madame Speaker, esteemed Sens. Murray and Cantwell, and all other senators, and members of Congress: Once this massive piece of unread legislation gets passed, will you and all other nationally elected officials abandon the health care plan in which you’re currently enrolled (at taxpayer expense) and instead join every other American in the new health system you’ve created — blessings, warts and all?
Think that’s just a gimmick question? Maybe. But remember, the guys in the dark suits at the Politburo drove Mercedes while everyone else in the Soviet republic had to wait for years in line for a Yugo.
