As a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, and veteran advocate I am deeply concerned about the homeless veteran population, and that’s why I am proud to support Bob Ferguson for governor because of his commitment to urgently addressing housing and homelessness in Washington.
Like all Washingtonians, I am concerned with our state’s lack of affordable housing and how we can best support those who are currently homeless. I believe housing is a fundamental human right, and I think Bob’s housing plan will help create comprehensive solutions, to address housing supply, Bob’s plan commits to increasing affordable housing units through public and private partnerships, expanding tax incentives for builders, and reforming zoning laws, to name a few. It is clear that Bob is dedicated to both immediate action and sustainable strategies, and I believe this approach will help to ensure every person in our community has access to affordable and secure housing.
Bob takes a holistic approach to homelessness, addressing root causes including mental health, addiction, and job instability. His plan commits to expanding treatment options, deploying successful reentry programs, working with individuals with lived experience, and coordinating systems. Bob will ensure vulnerable populations have access to the support they need.
As Attorney General, he’s won over $1 billion from the big corporations that fueled the opioid epidemic, and ensured that money could only be used to address the crisis; including improving treatment.
Bob Ferguson’s vision is comprehensive and compassionate. He is the leader we need to make real, meaningful progress and ensure Washington remains a place where everyone can thrive. Let’s sane some lives!
