On Nov. 2, I restarted a Herald subscription after a year’s hiatus. I usually turn to the Opinion page first. That day I was excited to see a Sid Schwab column, thinking, “Oh, good! He’s writing again.” Unfortunately, it appears this was a one-time deal.
Sid’s commentary made me think and woke me up a bit more re: politics. Plus, his intelligence radiated, and often drove me to the dictionary to look up vocabulary like “antithetical” and “contumeliously.” I will certainly miss that brain challenge and am sorry that he quit writing because of negative comments and a feeling of futility. Why do negatives always outweigh positives? Many of us in the “positive” lane need to speak up more!
I hope to see a column from Sid occasionally in the future.
