After finding out that the price of Mariners tickets are going up again, I have to wonder who the brain surgeon is behind this idea. First of all, Major League Baseball is in turmoil right now because of the alleged steroid abuse among its players, so here’s a great idea: Let’s raise the prices to watch them play!
It’s bad enough that an average family of four can barely afford to go watch “America’s pastime” now, but to raise the prices for the average Joe by $5 a ticket, while only raising the prices for those who can afford season tickets by $2 a game? It makes no sense.
I have an idea — let’s all just play baseball in our backyards, and make it a neighborhood game like it started out being, not go to “professional games,” save ourselves a lot of money, and let the playing field be leveled out once again. Once the players see that only the wealthy can afford baseball, and their fan base shrinks by a mile, maybe they’ll remember what it was like to play the game in the first place. Before the greed took baseball over and ruined the sport.
