Wasn’t it interesting to watch Gov. Gregoire’s press conference last month detailing the cuts that she has suggested be made as a result of an up to a $2 billion shortfall in the Washington state budget? (Oct. 27 article, “Gregoire budget starts with $2 billion in cuts.”) Gregoire looked into the cameras and as Democrats usually do, blamed everyone but herself.
The governor blamed Congress for not acting and stated: “They must act.” I assume she was referring to a Congress composed of both parties who refused to pass Stimulus Two and place our country another half trillion dollars in debt. Gregoire has a very short memory. Wasn’t Gregoire attorney general when her office was found by a court to have mismanaged a case and cost the state $17.8 million?
Wasn’t it Gregoire who authorized a state budget in 2007 when the state had a $2 billion surplus and turned the surplus into an almost $2 billon deficit? And again wasn’t it Gregoire who received $650,000 in campaign contributions from the Indian tribes of Washington state, then refused to sign the Indian Gambling Pact which cost the state $140 million in gambling revenue? Governor, please look into a mirror and ask that person what role she played in our state of the state and its mismanagement. And by the way, on the horizon another big spender, big-government Democrat and attorney is waiting to take Greqoire’s place in the person of Jay Inslee. Will the madness ever end?
